Siam
Cookie Bungalows Koh Tao...
Siam Cookie is a great place for backpackers who want a bit more
peace and quiet. Located on Sai Nual Bay, Siam Cookie has its own
beach with decent swimming and snorkelling, though it is pretty
rocky. Free snorkels are available for guests, but there seems to
be a shortage of masks. Most of the inexpensive accommodation here
is very small, very basic bamboo huts. They are drafty with slatted
windows and their old linens smell somewhat dank. On the plus side,
they are very near the water and guests will enjoy spectacular views.
There is also one large two-storey hut with three bedrooms, nothing
fancy but great for larger groups on a budget. Siam Cookie's main
restaurant is a slightly more expensive version of the standard
bungalow operator's restaurant, although their Banana Rock Bar across
the beach provides a very cool place to hang out. This multi-level
driftwood-decorated bar sits on the rocks just above the water and
offers good drinks in a laid back island atmosphere.
