Villa
Kantaraya takes its name from the old Asian language meaning “Queen
and beauty of the bells”. The renowned Thai architect and Koh Tao
resident, Naruepon Charoenittikul, took his inspiration from magnificent
bell-like domes to create the impressive roofs that are the unique
feature of this stunning private villa.

Perched
high up on Lang Khaai Bay, between the white sandy beaches of Aow
Leuk and Tanote Bay, on the South East coast of Koh Tao, Thailand,
Villa Kantaraya boasts stunning views out over Shark Island, Koh
Phangan, Koh Samui and Angthong National Marine Park in the Gulf
of Thailand.

Kantaraya
Villa is available to rent for short and long term periods, with
a minimum rental period of 3 nights. It provides accommodation for
6. The villa’s large split-level kitchen/dining/living area – hardwood
floors and handmade furniture throughout - leads directly out onto
the terrace, complete with Jacuzzi plunge pool and private sala/summer
house.

Sit
out under the stars on the spacious roof terrace above the living
area or enjoy a secluded dip in the Master bedroom’s own open air
Jacuzzi.

Aow
Leuk, Koh Tao’s best snorkeling beach lies directly below Villa
Kantaraya and is accessible by foot. Here you stand a good chance
of seeing Yellow Box fish,Titan Trigger fish, Blue Spotted Stingray,
Yellow tail Barracuda, Batfish and Moray Eels among many others!

Koh
Tao translates as "Turtle Island", so named because of
its shape and the abundance of turtles that used to inhabit the
surrounding waters. It is roughly 21sqm and remotely located 70km
from the mainland.

From
1933 to 1947 Koh Tao was used to jail political prisoners of the
Bowaredech Uprising. Many were transferred from Koh Tarutao to Koh
Tao because of its isolated location in the middle of the Gulf of
Thailand.

The
first real settlers arrived in 1947 from Koh Samui and Koh Phanghan.
Before then, only passing fishermen and the occasional coconut harvester
had come ashore.

Over
the past 20 years, Koh Tao's reputation has grown. Word has spread
of its abundant marine life and impressive coral reefs. It has become
one of the major dive sites in South East Asia.

GETTING
HERE
From Bangkok, you can either take a plane to Koh Samui and then
a boat via Koh Phanghan to Koh Tao. Or, the cheaper alternative
is to take a bus/boat combination from Bangkok to Chumphon on the
mainland and then on to Koh Tao.
