to Koh Tao's Monsoon Gym
Open
since 2001, Monsoon Gym is Koh Tao’s only
western style fitness center.

The
gym was the first on the island to run a number of training programs
including aerobics, pilates and Muay Thai.

2004
saw the gym move to its new and improved facilities next to the
boxing stadium at North Sairee Beach. Now working together with
a number of both Thai and Western boxing trainers, the gym offers
a full-scale boxing and weight training facility.

Membership
Gym membership is available on both daily and monthly rates, and
we're open from early morning till late evening 7 days a week.
In
addition to our standard gym packages we also offer a 1 month
muay-thai training and fitness camp internship.

If
you're seeking a program to get you in the best shape of your
life, look no further than our 1 month Muay Thai boxing training
and fitness camp.
Muay
Thai boxing is recognized as one of the most demanding martial
arts in existence. Fighters from other disciplines have long been
visiting Thailand, to learn and benefit from the techniques and
approaches used in Muay
Thai.

Whether
you're seeking to develop your fighting skills, or simply get
into fantastic shape, the Monsoon Gym 1 month package will deliver.
And of course there's no better place to train, than scenic, tropical
Koh Tao island during your gap
year.
We
include absolutely everything you need for the program - accommodation,
your own set of muay thai gear, muay thai training and unlimited
access to Monsoon Gym, plus a Thai mobile phone and motorbike
rental to help you stay in touch and get around.
Each
day we're up early for a run, to get you warmed up and ready for
action.
Then
we proceed to shadow boxing or skipping, again to further loosen
your muscles and improve footwork.
This
is followed by bag-work, throwing punches, kicks, elbow and knee
strikes, developing your striking power and stamina.

Next
it's a one on one training session with one of our Muay Thai trainers
wearing full pads. You'll develop technique, positioning, better
reactions and power. You'll make several rounds with the trainers,
dependant on your own existing fitness level.
Then
finally, a warm down with sit ups and further shadow boxing.
In
addition to the muay thai training, you'll be advised to undertake
wait training in the gym, further strengthening you muscles.
Usually
twice per month, we have special events where Muay Thai fighters
from all over Thailand and across the world, converge. It's a
great social event where you can appreciate watching the skills
of professional fighters and enjoy the electric atmosphere.
