Welcome
to The Dive Academy Koh Samui
The
Dive Academy is based on the paradise island of
Koh Samui in the Gulf of Thailand. The Samui Archipelago
offers all year round diving, although conditions are
not always good around monsoon season between the middle
of October / early December.
The
Dive Academy is English owned and managed. Our multi-lingual
staff are professional, friendly and experienced and
have a vast knowledge of the diving on Koh Samui and
the surrounding islands, including the diving haven
of Koh Tao.
We
offer a full range of PADI diving courses from beginner
to professional, for adults and children, and our staff
can teach in a number of languages. We provide a relaxed,
safe and fun environment for you to enjoy your diving
experience.
PADI
DIVE COURSES
The Dive Academy offers a full range of PADI Dive Courses
for all levels of diver.
For
complete Beginners we have the 1 day Discover Scuba
Diving program, the 2 day PADI Scuba Diver Course and
the PADI Open Water Diver Course which takes 3-4 days.
Children
as young as ten years old can take the same PADI Course
as adults, so you can learn to dive together as a family.
There are also courses designed especially for children
between eight and ten years old, so everybody can be
included in the fun.
For
certified divers or those looking for Advanced Courses
we have the PADI Adventure Diver, Advanced Open Water
and Rescue Diver Courses, as well as a selection of
PADI Specialty Courses to choose from.
If
you are thinking of changing your life and leading a
lifestyle most people only dream of, The Dive Academy
can help you with the full range of PADI Professional
level courses.
All
our courses are conducted by experienced PADI Instructors,
who will ensure your safety and enjoyment and will make
sure your you get the highest standard of diver training.
DIVE
TOURS
The Dive Academy offers dive tours to the top dive sites
in the Gulf of Thailand.
From
Koh Samui there are three main dive destinations: Anthong
Marine Park, Sail Rock and Koh Tao.
We
have ? day trips to Sail Rock or Anthong Marine Park
and full day trips to Koh Tao.
We
take no more than four divers per group, and wherever
possible we try to ensure all divers within the group
are of the same or similar experience. If this is not
possible then we may provide an additional member of
staff so we can separate the group.
We
provide an experienced PADI Professional who has extensive
knowledge of the dive sites, which will increase your
level of safety and enjoyment.
We
use new, purpose built speedboats, which boast the latest
in technology for your added safety and comfort. The
boats have an onboard toilet and shower.
We
take a maximum of 10 diving customers and 4 non-diving
customers per trip. This ensures plenty of room and
comfort on the boats.
We
do not have a fixed schedule – we choose the destination
of our trips according to the latest reports regarding
visibility and weather conditions – this helps us give
you the best diving available.
DIVE
SITES
From Koh Samui there are three main dive destinations:
Anthong Marine Park, Sail Rock and Koh Tao.
Angthong
Marine Park
There are 4 or 5 regularly dived sites in the Marine
Park – Koh Yippon and Koh Wao being the most popular.
The Marine Park is known for it’s shallow caves and
swimthrough’s and it's variety of colourful soft corals,
as well as an abundance of marine life. The dive sites
of the Marine Park are mostly all shallow, with the
maximum depth being around 20 metres.
Along
with the shallow depths and mild, if any, currents,
the Marine Park is ideal for novice divers and for experienced
divers to have long, relaxed, easy dives.
Sail
Rock is a pinnacle shaped like an iceberg
that emerges from the sandy bottom at 40m to rise 15m
above the ocean surface.
Sail
Rock is the most popular dive site in the Samui archipelago.
It is famous for it’s naturally formed vertical “chimney”,
which you can enter at 18m, with a window at 12m and
the exit at around 7m, where the natural light penetrating
the top makes it fantastically picturesque. It is wide
enough to fit 2 divers side by side, although we do
ask you to go through one at a time to help us prevent
damage.
The
wall of Sail Rock is covered with soft corals and sponges,
and a large variety of aquatic life including large
schools of Batfish, Trevally, Barracuda, Snappers and
Fusiliers as well as Groupers and the occasional Whale
Shark, can be found all around the dive site. There
are also many small creatures to be seen on the rock
such as Shrimps, Crabs and Pipe Fish.
At
the north-east side of the rock there are a couple of
submerged “secret” pinnacles which are only for experienced
divers, but because Sail Rock is stunning at depths
of 5m all the way down to a maximum depth of 40m, it
is ideal for beginners and experienced divers alike.
There
are sometimes relatively strong currents on parts of
the site, but the site is big enough for the current
to be avoided.
Koh
Tao, which translates to Turtle Island, is
the northernmost and smallest of the 3 inhabited islands
in the Samui Archipelago behind Koh Phangnan and Koh
Samui. The south and west coasts of the island have
white sandy beaches, and the north and east coasts have
a couple of small sandy beaches but are predominantly
made up of granite boulders.
The
Diving around Koh Tao is amongst the best in The Gulf
of Thailand, with enough variety to satisfy all levels
of diver. There are sheltered, shallow bays which are
ideal for students and beginners, and there are deeper
sites ranging from submerged pinnacles to gentle sloping
reefs. The sites have an abundance of hard and soft
corals, an array of large pelagics and a rich diversity
of marine life.
SNORKELING
For anybody that is either too young to go diving or
for any reason doesn't want to go under water, we offer
snorkeling tours to the best snorkeling spots in the
Gulf of Thailand.
There
are no restrictions to the snorkeling trips, so everybody
can be included in the fun and can experience the beauty
of the underwater world, even from the surface.
We
have trips to Angthong Marine Park (picture right) and
to the diving and snorkeling paradise of Koh Tao and
Koh Nangyuan (picture below).
The
Angthong Marine Park has stunning scenery and includes
the option for kayaking around the islands and through
the caves and a chance to visit the Emerald Lake, so
is a bit more of an Adventure Day than Koh Tao.
Koh
Tao is famous for it's crystal clear water and abundance
of marine life and is the perfect place for bith snorkelers
and scuba divers.
We
provide life jackets for your safety should you require
them while you snorkel, and we provide a thorough briefing
so you get the best from your trip. We also provide
constant supervision while you are in the water and
a guide if required.

Family
Entertainment
At The Dive Academy we cater for family groups, with
children as young as ten joining in and doing (sometimes
better!) the same PADI courses as the adults. Children
between eight and ten can also learn with courses designed
especially for them. Why not learn together as a family

the fantastic dive destinations worldwide?
PADI
SCUBA DIVER & OPEN WATER DIVER
The Scuba Diver Course allows you to dive to a maximum
depth of 12 metres accompanied by a PADI Professional,
while the Open Water Diver Course allows children between
the ages of ten and twelve to dive to 12 metres and
children thirteen or above to dive to 18 metres, accompanied
by a responsible adult.
DISCOVER
SCUBA DIVING
Discover Scuba Diving is a one day experience, designed
to introduce you to the beauty of the Underwater World
before you decide to continue the adventure by doing
a course. We start in the pool then we take you out
for the day to one of the fantastic dive destinations
around Koh Samui to make two dives with an Instructor
where you will make friends with lots of different variety
of fishes.
BUBBLEMAKER
Children between eight and ten can be included in the
family fun with PADI courses designed especially for
them.
The
Bubblemaker program introduces children to the underwater
world with fun and exciting games in the safety of the
swimming pool or the open sea to a maximum depth of
2 metres.
PERSONAL
BUDDY
The Personal Buddy Service allows you to benefit from
having a PADI Professional to buddy with you regardless
of your experience or the location you have chosen to
dive.
The
service is ideal for:
• inexperienced divers or those that haven't dived for
a period of time and would like the added assurance
of having a professional to accompany them;
• experienced divers who for whatever reason are diving
alone and would prefer not to;
• divers that for one reason or another find it physically
difficult to dive and would benefit from having a personal
buddy to give a helping hand;
• a diver or divers that want to continue their education
and would prefer to have their own personal instructor
to accompany them wherever they may decide to dive;
• divers that want the personal attention and pampering
that a personal buddy would provide;
• previous customers of The Dive Academy who enjoyed
their time with us and would like to use our services
again at the same or a different location.
Any
destination would be considered, including Thailand,
Malaysia, Philippines, Indonesia and more or less any
destination you choose.
All
reasonable travel and accommodation expenses are to
be paid along with a daily fee.
The
Personal Buddy Service is a way to get the assurance,
safety, enjoyment and experience you want from diving.
