PADI Discover Scuba Diving (DSD)
This DSD course is designed for those who would like to try a diving experience during their vacation without having to commit to a course or who are unsure as to whether diving would be an enjoyable experience for them. DSD involves 2-dives to a maximum depth of 12m (36ft) under the guidance of a certified PADI Instructor or 6m (18ft) under the guidance of a certified PADI Divemaster.

PADI Scuba Diver Course (SD)
The SD course is specifically designed for those who do not have the time or do not wish to spend 4-days studying and training during their vacation. This is a 2-day course involving three academic sessions, three-confined water sessions (swimming pool or bay) and two open water dives to a maximum depth of 12m (36ft). Although certified as a PADI SD, this license requires that PADI Scuba Divers must dive under the supervision of a PADI professional.

PADI Scuba Diver - 2 day course
Dive theory, swimming pool session and 2 dives at local Koh Tao dive sites.
License to dive to 12m, under supervision of an PADI Dive Master or an PADI Instructor. Easily upgraded to Open-water license in 2 days.

PADI Open Water Diver – 4 day course
Dive theory & multiple choice exam, pool session’s, and 4 dives at local Koh Tao.
License to dive, un-supervised to 18m.
First step into the magical underwater world.

SCHEDULE

Day 1.
Arrive at Koh Tao Coral Grand Resort. After youve checked in and had a look around the resort meet your instructor at 2pm.Complete some paper work and watch Padi Videos 1-3.

Day 2.
Spend the morning completing theory modules 1-3.
During the afternoon confined water session modules1-3 and lots of fun in the swimming pool.

YOUR ARE NOW A PADI SCUBA DIVER.

Finish the day watching Padi videos 4-5 if you are doing the full Open Water Course.

Day 3.
Spend the morning completing theory modules 4-5. During the afternoon enjoy your first 2 dives, maxium depth 12 meters.

Day 4.
Complete the final exam in the morning. Spend the afternoon doing the third and forth dive of the course, maxium depth 18 meters.

YOU ARE NOW A PADI OPEN WATER DIVER.

OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING :

2:00 pm – Orientation. Meet your instructor and course introduction as well as Modules 1 & 2 of the PADI OW video.

Finish between 4:30 – 5:00 pm.

Day 2.

09:00 am – 11:00 am. Dive theory and PADI OW video 3 & 4. Quizzes 1, 2 & 3 (multiple choice answers).

1:00 pm – 5:00 pm. Confined Water Modules 1 to 5 in the resort swimming pool or secluded bay.

Finish between 5:00 pm – 5:30 pm.

Day 3.

09:00 am – 11:00 am. Dive theory and PADI OW video 5. Quiz 4 (multiple choice answers).

12:15 pm – 5:00 pm. Open water dives 1 & 2.

Finish between 5:00 pm – 5:30 pm.

YOU ARE NOW A CERTIFIED PADI SCUBA DIVER

Day 4.

06:15 am – 11:30 am. Open water dives 3 & 4. Leaving at this hour gives the student the opportunity to see much larger marine life such as Whales Sharks, Black Tip Sharks, Jenkins’s Rays, large shoals of Fusilier and Needlefish etc.

3:00 pm – 4 pm. Final Exam (multiple choice answers).

YOU ARE NOW A PADI OPEN WATER DIVER..

OPEN WATER DIVER COURSE INCLUDES THE FOLLOWING :

PADI Nitrox Diver Course (EANx)
This 2-day course is the only PADI specialty course than can be combined with another course; hence, you could be on the road to the Master Scuba Diver qualification if you already hold the EFR & Rescue as well as other specialty qualifications. The Enriched Air course allows you to be able to extend your bottom times with a 32% and 36% oxygen mixture thus allowing you to enjoy some of the more enjoyable diving experiences such as wreck diving and deep diving.

ENRICHED AIR DIVER (EANx/NITROX)

PADI Adventure Diver Course (ADV)
The Adventure course (Adv) is 1-day course for those who do not have time to complete their Advanced Open Water course but still wish to walk away with a certification that allows them to enjoy an even greater experience and deeper diving. This involves 3-dives, normally a deep dive to a maximum depth of 30m (100ft), an underwater naturalist dive and a night dive.

PADI Adventure Diver 1 - 2 day course
1 or 2 day Adventure Diver. Choose from deep dive (between 18 – 30m), Navigation, Multi-level, Night, Peak Performance Buoyancy, Fish Identification, Naturalist, DPV, Photography, Search & Recovery etc.

PADI Advanced Open Water Diver 2 - 3 day course

2 or 3 day course duration for Advanced open water. Experience programme made up of 5 dives, 2 compulsory dives,
3 Elective (optional).

Compulsory dives - Deep diver (between 18 - 30m) & Navigation.

The Advanced Open Water Course (AOW) is a 2-day course that takes the Open Water Diver to the next level. This course offers 5 dives of which the deep dive and the underwater navigation dive are mandatory dives whilst the student may select any 3 dives such as photography, search & recovery, peak performance buoyancy, night diving, naturalist to name just a few. After completion of the AOW course, the student receives AOW certification and may dive to a maximum depth of 40m (120ft) with experience.

PADI Rescue Diver Course (RESC/EFR)
The Emergency First Response (EFR) course is a pre-requisite to entering the PADI Rescue Diver course in which the student learns to manage everyday general accidents, dive emergencies and CPR. This is a 1-day academic course. The PADI Rescue Diver (Resc) takes AOW divers towards entirely new level of diving where managing and preventing problems to others makes the Rescue Diver a much more aware diver. Probably the most satisfying of all PADI courses, the PADI Rescue course is a 3-day course that involves academic and rescue scenarios that raises the diver’s level of confidence in their own abilities to assess, handle and manage emergencies.

PADI Divemaster Course (DM)
The PADI Divemaster (DM) course is the first step to becoming a PADI professional and a dive leader. As a PADI DM, the student takes diving to a greater level learning more academically and practically about the business of diving, assisting PADI Instructors as well as improving their own diving skills to a professional level. This is an eight-week internship programme to take DM learning to incorporate essential skills beyond the PADI level.

         Ask any person involved in diving what a Divemaster is and the most common answer will be a dive leader. Being a Divemaster is just that and then some. As a Divemaster your job will entail anything from handling the dive boat to mingling with potential divers at the resort swimming pool. In order to be successful as a Divemaster you will need to be flexible in every way with emphasis on dive safety which is paramount here with Coral Grand Divers.

Divemaster Development Course:

Your training as a PADI Divemaster is extremely important. Not many people recognize that a Divemaster is typically responsible for the lives of people in a potential hostile environment. This is what we have based The Coral Grand Divemaster Development Course on. As a PADI Divemaster you are expected to have excellent people skills, good rescue technique, sound judgment and a broad knowledge of dive theory - and this is the goal we have set out to achieve.

So what is different at Coral Grand Divers?

At Coral Grand Divers our 8 week Divemaster course is taught and supervised by two dedicated staff. All the theoretical aspects as well as water and stamina skills are taught & supervised by our Course Director and Dive Operations Manager with each Divemaster candidate also being assigned one personal instructor & Divemaster mentor. After a certain proficiency has been reached, the Divemaster candidate will then have a chance to float between the rest of the instructional staff for more experience. We will address your individual strengths and weaknesses in order to focus on the right areas during the program. Should you for example have trouble with physics, then we will spend some extra time on that subject. As you are probably aware guiding certified divers and assisting is an important aspect of a Divemaster's job. To make you strong in both these departments we have chosen to exceed the minimum training requirements required by PADI. During our Divemaster Development Course you will have a chance to interact with real guests and customers as well as act out role-playing scenarios with the staff and other Divemaster trainees as well as operate in a real-time diving resort environment.

Duration:

We at Coral Grand Divers – Koh Tao will not accept anybody for Divemaster training for a period of less than 6 weeks. Why?

Coral Grand Divers – Koh Tao provides a high level of training and internship. When our former trainees move on to the professional diving world, we want them to take with them the confidence and professionalism that a 6 to 8 week course will instill.

PADI's prerequisites:

      1. Be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver (or equivalent).
      2. Be certified as a PADI Rescue Diver (or equivalent).
      3. Have logged a minimum of 20 open water dives prior to entry into PADI Divemaster training, and completed and logged a minimum of 60 open           water dives with experience in night, deep and navigation prior to certification as a PADI Divemaster.
      4. Be at least 18 years old.
      5. 5. Be in good physical condition for diving and submit medical statement signed by a physician. You can complete this medical statement on
           location.

Coral Grand Divers – Koh Tao prerequisites
     1. A willingness to study the course curriculum and work hard.
     2. Flexibility, maturity and good people skills.

Want to be more employable?
Increase your chances of finding a job by becoming an Emergency First Response Instructor. This excellent program has quickly set the standard for first aid programs within the diving industry and as a Divemaster you will be fully qualified to teach by participating in the Emergency First Response Instructor program. Completing a D.A.N. Oxygen Provider course is also recommended especially as this is more frequently becoming a prerequisite for employment in some countries.
